This is the final version of my hay bales painting. I do like the way this turned out, even if the background colours may be too bright. If I were going to go for a bit more realism, I’d fade the background quite a bit more. I am not overly pleased with the composition; the hay bales seem a bit too regularly placed, and there is nothing that really leads the viewer’s eye through the picture.

Interesting artifact of scanning, the trace lines show up a lot darker and more prominant than in the actual painting.
